LOS ANGELES, Aug. 25, 2015 – San Francisco residents may look up to see a rainbow in the sky next week, but it won’t indicate the typical support for gay rights. A new movie that over 1,000 LGBT supporters have warned the public not to watch will be advertised on a banner for two days over San Francisco.
While pro-LGBT viewers have slammed the film on online review sites, the film’s producer is not deterred. Ray Comfort, whose movies have been seen by millions, said, “Despite the calls for censorship and displays of intolerance, we’re hoping people will be open-minded enough to watch the film and come to their own conclusion.”
As the best-selling author noted, not all perceive the movie to be heavy-handed. One viewer commented, “I have to say, as a gay woman who watched Audacity, I agree that the topic was handled with love and compassion which was refreshing to see…the message was clear (even if it was one I disagreed with as an atheist).”
After flying the banner over San Francisco, the producer plans to target Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, Denver, Colorado Springs, Dallas, Austin, Houston, New Orleans, and New York. Comfort explains his goal for the banners, and the film itself: “A film reviewer stated that ‘this film has the potential to ease the tensions between Christians and the LGBT community.’ That’s something I think most people would agree is sorely needed these days.”
“Audacity” received 100,000 YouTube views in five days. It may be freely seen on www.AudacityMovie.com.
Though it's an icky thought to have an electronic device (pacemaker) in my chest and two electrical wires (leads) in two chambers of my heart (right atrium and ventricle), I'm grateful to the LORD for providing this medical intervention that's making my heart beat as often as it should and gradually elevate as necessary, with activity.
I have a six week recovery that includes not being able to raise my left arm above my head, bear down on it, extend it back, etc. so as not to pull the leads out of my heart, which would require another surgery to put them back in. And for the first two weeks, I can't drive or do much of anything but rest, and possibly, some very light activity. Six weeks gives the tissue in my heart enough time to surround the leads and hold them in place. I never realized how many things I have to do that causes me to have to put my arms above my head (wash and brush my hair, getting dressed, reaching for a drinking glass, etc.), bear down on it (opening prescription meds, closing food lids) and extending it backward (to scratch an itch, to wash, get dressed, etc). This has caused severe pain in my right shoulder and arm due to overuse. So, I'll have to get this figured out too...perhaps...I just need to rest more.
Pain in the Flesh
I misread my care instructions and began some "normal" daily activity the day I got home from the hospital (e.g., unload the dishwasher, try to write this update). It turns out, I was supposed to pretty much do nothing but rest the first three days, and possibly have some very light activity for the next two weeks. Due to being overly zealous after my surgery, the past few days have been rough. I've had severe heaviness in my chest (where my sternum and heart are) so that it's difficult and very painful to catch a full breath. I've also had extreme pain in my shoulders, neck and upper back; so much so, I needed to take a pain med (Tramadol). I don't like pain meds due to the constipation and other side effects it causes. But thankfully, my Father God has brought me through many excruciating trials throughout my life that though my body has a low pain tolerance, I have a high pain threshold. This gift from the Lord made it possible for me to only have to take one pain med the first day home and I've been able to manage these other days with Tylenol here and there. God always knows what's ahead and provides us with what we need...when we need it.
In a couple of weeks I'll have my first post-op visit with my Cardiac Electrophysiologist (CE) and the rep from St. Jude's Medical (where my pacemaker is from) to make sure the personal settings they made for my pacemaker are working well for me, and to review the readings from my pacemaker to decide if, in conjunction with my pacemaker, I'll need heart meds to control my episodes of SVTs (supraventricular tachycardia), PACs (premature atrial contractions) and PVCs (premature ventricular contractions) caused by my heart arrhythmia: sick sinus syndrome. Both my Cardiologist and CE diagnosed me with sick sinus syndrome from the readings of my 14-day heart monitor. From this report, they discovered that I was having more bouts of bradycardia than the other arrhythmias (which was causing my lightheadedness, dizziness and near fainting spells). The pacemaker only controls my bradycardia, so my prayer is that the LORD isn't allowing enough of those other arrhythmias to occur so that medication is not needed to control them. But again, I am the Lord's handmaiden, let all things be done to me as He pleases. I know that whatever God wills is better than whatever I will.
Joy in the Lord
In the hopes that I might daily use and not waste the spiritual gifts God has given me, one of my constant prayers is Romans 1:11-12, "For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you—that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine." because I never know when I'll be with a fellow believer. One of the unique joys of being a child of the Most High God is the blessing of unpretentious, altruistic and beautiful fellowship with other saints in Christ Jesus, everywhere I go (1 Pet 1:22).
I had my hospital tract bag filled with books, DVDs, CDs and tracts so that I would be ready to exhort saints to press on and share the Gospel with the lost.
Right from the beginning, I was able to encourage and be encouraged by the faith of my phlebotomist and nurse who did the pre-surgery prep work for me. They shared personal details and concerns about their lives and the Lord allowed me to share His Word with them as only He knew they needed at that moment (Eph 4:29, another one of my constant prayers). My precious nurse had been a missionary in Tanzania for six years and has only been back in the U.S. for the past year. We discussed much about how every Christian is called to be a missionary—to share the Gospel, no matter where God puts us, in Tanzania, here in our country, as a nurse or as a patient. I gave her "God Has a Wonderful Plan For Your Life" (by Ray Comfort) to encourage her. We exchanged contact info and we're already planning on our next fellowship together! She told me she's enjoying the book and Ray's message regarding evangelism. It's such an incredible blessing to know that in Christ, I have the riches of His kingdom that I may freely and generously share with others.
Neither where we live for a time nor what position God grants us for a time, should be wasted. All that we are, wherever we are and whatever we do, we ought to do for God's pleasure and glory alone; for this is our strength and joy—our joy in the Lord (1 Jn 5:3)!
My Father God also blessed me with the joy of meeting a brother in Christ, my anesthesiologist. We shared how we're mutually inspired to share the the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ and how we both love and appreciate all the witnessing tools and resources Ray makes available through his ministry, Living Waters Publications. He told me how encouraged he's been by our brother Ray's ministry and asked me to relay a message of great thanks to Ray for his faithfulness and love for Christ and all those He came to save. So my Romans 1:11-12 prayer extended all the way to California and I was glad for it!
My anesthesiologist and I chatted about our mutual love and faith in Christ all the way up to the point of him putting me to sleep. As I began to fall asleep, I prayed that the Lord would help me (as He's done before) to share the Gospel, whether or not I'm fully conscience. Because I'm never completely lucid while in the recovery room, I can't recall all that I said and did, but I do recall asking those around me (I don't know how many were there because my eyes were still closed, but I heard multiple voices), "Do you know Jesus Christ?" There were varied responses and I don't remember if I got to share the entire Gospel, but I do recall saying, "You must repent and believe...there's nothing more important than your eternal salvation." I also remember repeating that multiple times and I'm not sure if I was talking to the same person/people. But I was grateful that the LORD granted me my request and I pray that the seed He gave me to sow was on the soft and tendered hearts that He's prepared to receive and believe the Gospel.
"This message [the Gospel] is not supposed to make us tame and comfortable. Christ crucified and raised for our justification is intended to unleash us, embolden us, and put us to work. Christianity is much more about serious adventure than sentimentalized safety. It is much more about faith in suffering than ease in prosperity. It is much more about death—death to sin and self—than it is about personal affirmation and precious moments."
Sadly today, we have too many "Christian Picnickers" and too few "Christian Runners". Our lives are but a mist and none of us are guaranteed our next breath. Just because I'm so obviously ill doesn't mean I will die before you will. No one takes one breath more or one breath less than God has ordained before the foundation of the world (Ps 139:16). And we ought not take that truth lightly or forget it altogether. Rather, we ought to embrace all that God has spoken to us through His Word and make the most of every moment we have for the glory and pleasure of our Savior, instead of indulging ourselves with personal affirmations and self-centered desires and fears.
My prayer is that God uses everything...everything that He's given me: my marriage, my parenting, my friendships, my time, my money, my talents, my spiritual gifts, my social media platforms, my writings, my errands, my broken body, and every conversation, to be something that's beautiful in His sight (Mk 14:6). And I pray this for everyone who claims Christ as their Savior; that we would all hunger and thirst for righteousness, and like our Father God, that our hearts would be filled with compassion for the lost. Don't waste another breath. Don't waste another vacation, errand, telemarketing call, etc. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and generously give others what you profess you're grateful for—Christ, given to you by God, as a propitiation for your sins, so that you may have eternal life in His Son.
By definition, "audacity" can refer to sheer arrogance for the sake of arrogance, or boldness without any regard for self-preservation. In his latest film, "Audacity"(available for download on June 24, 2015), Ray Comfort and his staff at Living Waters, graciously demonstrates the latter definition—boldness without any regard for self-preservation.
"Audacity" presents the truth with great compassion on the hotly debated topic of homosexuality and all that it entails (same-sex marriages, are people born gay, what does the Bible say about homosexuality, etc.). And there's no Disney-like scenes. It's real, edifying and offers true hope to all who watch this movie.
One of the things I really appreciated is how Ray Comfort portrayed the homosexuals (three different couples) in "Audacity" as they truly are—image-bearers of God Almighty (like the rest of us), who are in desperate need of the one and only Savior, Jesus Christ the Lord. I'm always disgusted by Hollywood's depiction of homosexuals as overly-sexed maniacs whose only identity and interest is their sexual orientation. Gay men and lesbian women are no more overly-sexed than heterosexual men and women. Sexual orientation does not determine, nor define sexual obsession (e.g. the abominable "50 Shades of Grey").
I've had many homosexual friends (both gay men and lesbian women) since I was 17 years old. I loved them dearly, so naturally, I shared the Gospel with them; whether they were my co-workers, bosses, or friends of mutual friends. Unlike Hollywood's gross exaggeration of homosexuals, my friends were more than sexual beings, just like heterosexuals are. My gay and lesbian friends were kind, loving, hilarious (well, not all of them), quirky, artsy, brilliant, talented in many ways, thoughtful, etc. They liked many activities I liked and frankly, lived very similarly to me, except that I'm a Christian and a heterosexual.
A movie like this is not only timely, but necessary because homosexuality is a widely misunderstood issue among the secular world and sadly, even among many Christians. Some Christians quote Bible verses stating that homosexuality is a sin while others quote Bible verses (out of context) and conclude that homosexuality is not a sin. Whether secular or Christian, those who contend that homosexuality is not a sin, lean on their definition and comfort level of what love is, rather than defer to God's definition of love—holy, righteous, sacrificial and morally pure.
"Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him...For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?"
-1 John 4:8-9; 5:3-5, ESV
God is love, but love is not God. What I mean by that is exactly what Scripture says; God is love, therefore, He defines what love is. Those who believe love is God, dangerously and erroneously define God by what they "feel" love is...at any given moment. I understand why the world has this faulty, man/self-centered view of love, but I'm quite bewildered at why Christians have the same misguided view.
The talented, atheist illusionist and comedian Penn Jillette (of Pen and Teller) once said about Christians who don't share the Gospel, "If you believe there's a Heaven and Hell and people could be going to Hell, or not getting eternal life or whatever, and you think 'Well, it's not worth telling them this because it would make it socially awkward' ...How much do you have to hate somebody to know that everlasting life is possible and not tell them that?" I quite agree. Withholding the truth from someone because it makes you feel uncomfortable, isn't you loving others, it's you loving yourself.
Jesus Christ, the only Son of the only living and true God, suffered and died; was crushed for our iniquities; He drank the cup of God's wrath in our stead and rose again on the third day, so all who repent and trust in Christ will have everlasting life. How can any professing Christian condone and celebrate the sinful lifestyles of loved ones? Perhaps it's because too many Christians don't read and study their Bibles. Perhaps it's that too many Christians desire so much to keep a relationship with loved ones living in sin (any sin, whether heterosexual immorality, homosexual immorality, lying, stealing, etc.), that they've convinced themselves this is love, rather look to God, who is love. I don't know.
What I do know, is that the movie "Audacity" demonstrates God's definition of love—extraordinary compassion without compromising the truth. One of my favorite lines is from Peter (Travis Owens) who says, "If I really love people, then I have to say something. Love can't stay silent."
Below is my interview with Ray Comfort.
What inspired you to make this movie and story line?
After making films about abortion and evolution, people kept saying that I needed to make one on the issue of homosexuality—because it was confronting the church, and most Christians were very uncomfortable about how to deal with it without sounding hateful. I adamantly said that it wasn’t going to happen. There were two reasons for this. The first was that anyone who spoke against the issue of homosexuality nowadays are instantly vilified as though he were a hate-filled racist. Nobody wants that. And the second was that I really didn’t know how I could break away from the stereotypical way such a movie would be done. Most films on the subject would have a few ex-homosexuals giving testimonies on how they were now heterosexuals and were happily married with kids. No one was going to watch but Christians. I would be preaching to the choir.
Around April 2014, I was with my friend Stuart Scott in Huntington Beach here in California, when I saw two girls walking towards us kissing each other. I asked if they would like to be on camera, and to my surprise, they said that they would. These two ladies gave me an amazing 14-minute interview, and ended up thanking me for not being judgmental. Yet I hadn't compromised the gospel even slightly. It was as though God had dropped the foundation for a movie into my lap into my lap. That night I wrote a script and sent it to Mark Spence (he was the main editor and producer of "180"). He wrote back "Wow, wow, wow!" I quickly called a meeting, and after just over a year later, we had a completed movie.
This is very different from any of your other movies; it's a scripted story with actors, extras, etc. Why did you decide to do it this way?
To go the documentary route with this subject would have pushed me into a predictable mold. I wanted to stay well clear of the "We are now ex-homosexuals and everything is happy" type of film. Instead, I was thinking of something that was so well-produced and had such a good story line it would grip the attention of the unsaved—where they would stay and listen to the gospel. And at the same time, something that would help Christians who didn't know how to share the gospel with a homosexual without coming across as being hateful. I knew that it could be done, because 1 Timothy 1:8-10 tells us how to do it. It was just a matter of wrapping truth in a package that had the production quality of a modern movie. It was a tall order, but I knew our guys had the gifting to deliver that.
Are all the actors in the movie Christians?
Only three of the actors are Christians. Our big concern was bad acting. Even five seconds of poor acting would be like a small gash in a big ocean liner. No matter how good the production, [bad acting] would sink the whole movie. The only way to make sure this didn't happen was to have auditions and choose the best we could find. As soon as we had our actors, we sat them down at a table. Then my director Eddie Roman introduced me and I took the time to tell them why the script was as it was. I gave my testimony, which included a very clear gospel presentation, said that I wanted everyone (including homosexuals) to find everlasting life and that's why the script was as it was. It was an appropriate opportunity to share the way of salvation right at the beginning of our relationship.
Since this is your first scripted movie with a story line, how did you know where to look for actors, film crew, etc.? Did you have specific things you were looking for?
Over the years we have used Hollywood lighting and sound crews for our television program. We even took them with us when we went to Europe and filmed 13 episodes in 13 countries in 13 days (for our Fourth Season). We also had contacts in a professional casting agency. It’s a fascinating process. When we needed one waitress to play a small part, we had just under 2,000 applicants.
We were looking for talent and likability. We didn't want to stereotype homosexuals.
Do you have any friends who are living a homosexual lifestyle? If so, how long have you been friends with them and how do they remain friends with you, knowing you're a faithful Christian?
I have a number of friends who are atheists (I have no idea of their sexual preference). One of them in a particular, is a close friend. I had him play a paramedic in the movie (very small unspoken part). I also invited him to a special pre-screening we had for donors. His reaction to the movie was interesting. He sent me this quote and permission to use it: "Audacity is entertaining and has some great comedy and dramatic tension. Unlike most Christian films it is far from cheesy, and has a great, well-acted script. Most of all it is not heavy-handed, showing the Christian position on homosexuality without being intimidating or angry. Well done!" -Michael S. Martin (Atheist).
If you could choose one Bible verse or passage that best describes the foundation and heart of "Audacity" what would you say it is?
It would be from First Corinthians 13—about love. A skeptic recently wrote to me and said that it was virtually impossible to be a Bible believing Christian and not be "homophobic." I could understand his reasoning, because Scripture is very clear on the issue. Even when the movie won two awards (we submitted an uncut version), we wondered if Christians would like the movie. When a well-known Christian blogger asked for a review copy, we were a little nervous because he didn't pull any punches. When I sent him a link he replied the same day with, "Ray, this is the best film you have made yet. Congratulations on a job well done. " That was particularly sweet, because we felt a little haunted by "180" during this whole process, because it was so well received; it set a high bar.
Conclusion: From a purely cinematic standpoint, the script and acting were predominantly good, engaging and displayed much talent. The camera work, lighting, music, sound and visual effects were on spot.
Travis Owens "Peter" and Molly Ritter "Diana" were convincing, lovable, authentic. They drew you into their character's fears and convictions, as well as displayed what a truly loving friendship looks like in spite of strongly conflicting views.
Aaron Mitchell "Robert" and Franklin Killian "Lance" played one of the movie's homosexual couples and they were true-to-life, passionate and relatable. Both actors gave such a stellar performance you never judged them, but rather, you feel for them and understand their plight. It's one of my favorite scenes in the movie as it reminded me of precious friendships I once had and miss.
I found Ben Price to be an extremely gifted impersonator (with more than 47 near perfect impersonations). Talented guy. Danielle Rosario "Hailey", though she seemed to have some talent, didn't bring Hailey's character to life; making her character hollow.
As a whole, I love "Audacity" and highly recommend it to everyone (Christians and non-Christians, and especially Christians who know and love homosexual family/friends).
My prayer is that God will provide the necessary means for Ray Comfort to produce more biblically sound, Gospel-focused films so that Christians may be exhorted to live abandoned to Christ and unbelievers will come to saving faith through the steadfast preaching of the Gospel of God's grace (Acts 20:24).
This film is not a reenactment of the life of the historical Noah, but a refreshing 30-minute movie that biblically and accurately depicts how the life of this righteous man is pertinent to our world today. "Noah" includes 10 biblical prophecies (which I share below), the true Gospel of Jesus Christ and interviews from ordinary people like you and me.
Unfortunately, there's another movie on the horizon about Noah. This movie, starring Russell Crow, was produced by Hollywood and will be opening in theaters the same day (March 28) Ray Comfort's Noah movie will be available on YouTube and DVD. As expected, Hollywood maligned the character of Noah; the one whom God said was the only righteous man of his time.
"The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually...But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.
These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God."
~Genesis 6:5, 8-9 (ESV)
Hollywood's version of Noah is an overly zealous, environmental psychopath who wanted to kill his grandchildren. Not quite the character God had written about Him in His Word. Far from it. Why does it matter whether or not Noah's character is maligned? It matters because Noah and the ark were shadows of the Christ to come—the one who would and has come to save people from the fatal consequences our sins deserve (Rom 3:23-25, 6:23). And when you mess with Christ, you mess with His Gospel. And when you mess with the Gospel, you mess with the eternal salvation of lost souls. And when you do that, well, you're just not a loving person. At least not in the biblical sense (1 Jn 4:8, 5:2-3).
On the brighter and more biblical side, Ray Comfort's "Noah" movie enlightens the hearts of the interviewees with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and wisely pricks the hearts of many with discerning questions about life, death and eternity. And if we're humble in heart, it ought to have the same affect on us, the viewers.
The movie opens with Ray interviewing people on the street, asking if they believe Noah was a real person and do they believe there was a worldwide flood? The first person questioned said she didn't believe Noah really existed because she was happy with her atheism, but was open to myths. Ray then quotes Matthew 24:37 as he leads us to the 10 biblical prophecies (with references included) that correspond with the story of Noah and what's happening in our world today.
Love of money (2 Peter 2:1-3)
Wars, earthquakes, famines (Matt 24:7)
Moon will turn blood red (Acts 2:20)
Blaspheming God's name will be common place (2 Tim 3:1-2)
Increase of acceptance of homosexuality (Lk 17:28-30)
Religious hypocrisy will be prevalent (2 Tim 3:5)
People will deny God as Creator (2 Pet 3:3, 5, 6)
Fear of the future (Lk 21:26)
Scoffers will mock the end times saying warnings have always been, but nothing's happened (2 Peter 3:3-4)
People won't take the end times prophecies seriously (Matt 24:37-39)
Along with each biblical end time prophesies listed above, clips of actual events and interviews of those who are affected by these are appropriately included.
One of the interviewees was Professor of Geology and Oceanography, Rick Behl of California State University-Long Beach. When Ray asked the Professor where all the water from the earth originated, his response essentially was that most of it came from comets. Then when Ray asked if his response was a fact or mere theory, Professor Behl chuckled and said, "Nothing about the origin of the earth is fact."
After Ray interviews people regarding each of the 10 biblical end times prophecies shared in this documentary, he then asks them to consider their eternal outcome in accordance to God's Word. When presented with the light of the Ten Commandments (Rom 7:7), and asked how he'd be found in God's sight, one of the interviewees responded, "I'd obviously be guilty unless it's the worst judicial system I've seen."
Ray closes the movie with, "We didn't produce 'Noah' to entertain you. We produced it in the sincere hope that you'd obey the Gospel, that you'd repent of your sins and trust alone in Jesus Christ, so we'll see you in Heaven."
I enjoyed this movie not because it was entertaining (not that I don't enjoy being entertained), but because it was more meaningful than mere entertainment which is like cotton candy—it's fun, tastes good, makes me feel good, but has no lasting affect after it's gone. There's a time and place for every activity (Ecc 3:1), and just the same there's an appropriate time and way to be entertained (which Scripture should never be used for), and there are times we need to buckle up and seriously consider the ramifications of the careless words we speak and actions we take.
Jesus is clear. He came the first time as a lamb to be slaughtered; as a propitiation for our sins. The second time He comes, it will be as a roaring lion; coming to destroy all who hate and deny Him.
One of the things I particularly like about the way Ray shares the Gospel and speaks with people is the clear evidence that he cares. It's difficult to watch Ray interact with people and come away without seeing the deep love for our Savior and extreme compassion for the lost. Ray also demonstrates great passion to see God's people rise up and join the battle to contend for the faith and make disciples—not false converts. Ray not only asks good, heart-piercing questions, but he also listens carefully to those he speaks with; which is obvious, as he responds directly to what they're saying rather than continue on with an off topic he already had in mind.
Being a good listener is key to being a good communicator. And Ray Comfort is a good communicator, especially for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Why did you make this movie?
We made it to show that the Bible is absolutely credible. We wanted to show what was going on in Noah's day, is going on nowadays. And in Noah's day, the imaginations of men were continually evil. There was violence across the world and a lot of corruption, and that's what we see in today's society. In this movie, we show the fingerprint of God over all of Scripture. No one knows the future except God.
Did you deliberately make this movie to counter the unbiblical, Hollywood adaption of Noah, or was it simply coincidental?
It was deliberate. I heard Hollywood was making a movie about Noah that wasn't biblical. Hollywood knows how to make money from Christians. All they need to do is keep some biblical aspects, i.e., Cecil B. DeMille didn't make "The Twelve Commandments", he made "The Ten Commandments" and we Christians will love you and support you and give you our money.
But if they displayed the Prophet Muhammad as a psychopath you won't see Muslims lining up at the theaters two by two. You wouldn't see this because Muslims wouldn't stand for it and neither should Christians stand for this from Hollywood. Hollywood would never blaspheme the name of Muhammad like they blaspheme the name of our Lord...they wouldn't dare because they know there would be repercussions.
Though this movie is called "Noah" it isn't a visual reenactment of Noah's life. Why?
Because I didn't have time to build an ark. It would take me 120 years. We wanted to make a film about the prophecies that correlate to Noah and his time and our time. As I said in the movie, many think of Noah and the ark as a story from the past, but according to Jesus, the events surrounding the life of Noah are directly related to people today.
Also, prior to our downloadable release of this movie on February 28, California was in a severe drought. But then, the day we released "Noah" it poured, man it poured.
As with all your films, when you present the Gospel, you first share the Ten Commandments, emphasizing that our eternal salvation is a legal transaction between God and man. Why?
The Bible says sin is the transgression of the Law (1 Jn 3:4). The Law is the Ten Commandments. The Bible says God is a just Judge and we stand as guilty criminals before a holy God. We've violated His Law and our sentence is terminal. Jesus Christ came and paid our fine in full. That's what the Cross is all about. That's why Jesus cried, "It is finished". God can now legally dismiss our case in the courtroom. He can commute our death sentence and let us live because of the suffering, death and resurrection of our Savior.
What was your main motivation and what are your hopes for this movie?
I have a burning passion in life to see people in Heaven. Never before have we had a vehicle like the internet to spread the Gospel. Hundreds of years ago we'd put missionaries on a ship and it would take weeks, families would die of malaria and they would suffer many other unspeakable hardships. Today, all we need to do is push the "send" button and we can reach millions of people.
What makes a Christian video go viral? You do.

A special message from Ray:
Those of you who took advantage of our pre-release download offer on "Evolution vs. God" enabled us to fund the production of "Noah—And the Last Days." We would be grateful if you would consider doing the same with this movie, and in turn help us to continue producing similar projects in the future.
When you download this movie for $19.99, you will get a free downloadable Companion Guide (valued at $4.99) containing further evidence for the Ark and the worldwide Flood, plus a special video message by Ken Ham, "Creation and the Last Days" (valued at $12.99).
"Noah—And the Last Days" will be available on YouTube and DVD starting March 28. See more at: http://www.noahthemovie.com
Since it's inital release (mentioned in my last article), Ray Comfort's "Evolution vs. God" has garnered thousands of hateful, demeaning and even violent comments from evolutionists. In spite of such unevolved expressions of opposition, the initial release received such a huge response, Living Waters Publications' server crashed momentarily due to the mass influx of downloads.
At 12:01 a.m. (EST), August 7, 2013, "Evolution vs. God" was released for free on YouTube. Within the first 12 hours, it was viewed more than 11,000 times, with the majority happening during the wee hours of the night. The Evolution vs. God Facebook page has more than 30,000 likes and more than 5,000 people "talking about this". On their Google Plus page, they've acquired more than 1,100 followers and 220 followers on Twitter with numerous commendations from well-known, trusted and well-educated men and women from across the globe.
"Evolution vs. God" has been translated into 11 languages: Albanian, Czech, English, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, Romanian and Slovenian. To access these language options see the photo below.
There are more than 2,200 comments already posted on the YouTube site, as this movie continues to encourage the intelligent and infuriate evolutionists who are hypocritically angry with the teachings of a God they claim does not exist.
Here's a small collection of interesting comments from evolutionists:
Bjorn Sodergren: "If this guy asked me one of his questions, and he interrupted me like he's doing to these people, i would punch him in the eye and stab him in the face with a pen. His whole premise is complete hypocrisy. He keeps inferring that you need faith to believe in evolution and therefore it's false, since it doesn't 'match up' with scientific observation. There is plenty of evidence that supports evolution. Yet, there is absolutely 0 evidence for God or any God."
Ben Fitzpatrick: “Cowards like you should just stop breathing and let us normal people move on with life. The world will become a better place once we're rid of philistines such as yourself Mr. Comfort. Know that when you die I will sleep easier, because your destructive opinions will die with you, coward.”
Simon Jacks: "Sorry forgot the ad hominem... you witless ***** moron"
KalimaShaktide: "I can t watch this... it feels like being asked a question by someone who is not going to understand the response and trying to think of how to dumb things down to a 5 year old level. Ray keeps talking about "kinds" when biology talks about "species"...I can t watch this as it makes me want to slap him silly"
Dan Murphy: "Ray Comfort....you've gone full retard."
Have you noticed that atheists and/or evolutionists never hurl insults or vehemently oppose the Easter Bunny at parades or in shopping centers? Or how about the same for Santa Claus? It's a rather strange and immature way to behave towards those who believe and teach something that opposes your view—if you truly believe the opposing view is preposterous. Why be so offended by something you're sure does not exist...unless of course, you believe it does, yet you allow your foolish pride to set the course for your life rather than wisely humble yourself to the truth.
Interestingly, these barbaric outburst of violence mainly come from evolutionists towards creationists. Evolutionists, that is, those who believe we've all evolved from some mystical primordial ooze from the cosmos that no one created, seem to often express themselves ironically, in a rather devolved manner. Whereas creationists tend to take the higher road and respond to opposition with grace and intercessory prayer, all from the love of God. Yet these evolutionists assert those who've been enlightened with the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ are the ones who are considered "in the dark" and small-minded. Very peculiar.
I'm not saying that all Christians behave as we ought, but I am saying that most who are truly converted do act and speak as if they are indwelt with the Holy Spirit who sanctifies us with God's Word and empowers us to live above disparaging behavior towards others ( 1 Peter 1:14-16, 2 Peter 1:3-9, John 17:17). We've not yet been perfected, but on that glorious Day when we see Christ in His full glory, we will be made perfect, and will have to answer for every careless word we've spoken (Matt 12:36, Rom 14:12, 2 Cor 5:9-10). So don't worry atheists, we will be held accountable for any lack of God's grace we display.
Below is a gracious quote from Ray Comfort in response to atheists' erroneous claims regarding the interviews he conducted in "Evolution vs. God", as well as a couple of loving and truthful responses to professing "Christians" who don't believe God created everything.
"Atheists maintain that the word “kind” which is used a number of times in 'Evolution vs. God' is not the language of science. However, according to biology-online.org 'kind' is defined as, 'Race; genus; species; generic class; as, in mankind or humankind.' On hearing the words 'There’s the feline kind—cats and tigers, the canine kind—dogs and coyotes, and there’s human kind' Professor PZ Myers verbally affirmed it and nodded in agreement. Professor Peter Nonacs (UCLA) responded 'When you are talking about ‘kinds’ or changes in families, you are actually talking about macro evolution. You are talking about changes on the level that separate cats from dogs.' Professor Craig Stanford (USC) answered, 'When you say a change of ‘kinds’ you mean the evolution of one species from another or to another…' Don’t let desperate atheists distract you. Watch the movie: www.EvolutionVsGod.com"
"To say, 'I'm a Christian and I accept evolution,' is to say "I'm a believer in Jesus Christ and when He said, ‘In the beginning God made them male and female,’ I think He was lying."
"The professing Christian who believes in evolution is like an atheist who believes in God."

My prayer for this movie and all who watch, is that God's name will be extolled as it ought and that God will open ears so many can hear, and open eyes so many can perceive the truth of His Gospel, and receive the free gift of His saving grace through repentance and faith in His one and only Son, Jesus Christ the Lord.
To God alone be the glory!
In "Evolution vs. God", Ray Comfort, Founder/CEO of Living Waters Publications completely collapses the heart of the evolution theory with wisdom from above (James 3:17-18) — by asking a poignant, yet simple question no one could answer.
When I asked Ray what prompted this movie, he said, "I was very concerned because Richard Dawkins made his way to the United States and began reaching out for university students, encouraging them towards evolution and atheism; which only leads to sin-filled lifestyles: pornography, homosexuality, and other perversions. Believing in evolution just gives people the excuse to sin and deny the God who created them."
In preparation for "Evolution vs. God" (which was originally titled "Famous Atheists") Ray asked more than 20 scientists if he could interview them for this movie. Most said, "No" and others said, "Yes, but not on camera." He was grateful that God gave him favor with the four professors who kindly consented, and one with whom he already had a cordial relationship.
The question Ray asked that silenced every interviewee, professors and students alike, was this: "Could you give me some observable evidence that evolution is true; something I don't have to receive by faith?"
Neither the professors, students nor those Ray met on the street, who were atheists and believers in the theory of evolution, could give Ray one shred of scientific, observable evidence that evolution is true. When Associate Professor Gail E. Kennedy was asked this question she said, "Evolution is not testable over time." She went on later to say that the problem with people who don't believe in evolution is that they just don't have enough imagination. I actually agree with her. I certainly don't have enough imagination to believe that total order and intelligent design came from primordial ooze.
"We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ"
~2 Corinthians 10:5
The movie opens with an infamous quote by renown atheist, Richard Dawkins, "Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence."

Ray Comfort's simple, yet truth-penetrating question stumped the "experts" and refutes Richard Dawkins' assessment that those who have faith in the Creator God, is devoid of logical thinking. It's obvious, even from what Associate Professor Gail E. Kennedy said, that those who believe in evolution are the ones who alone have muddied reasoning, or as she called it—imagination.
I have nothing against imagination...for children. and harmless fun. But evolution isn't harmless and it's not fun; it's very dangerous to every human being's purpose in this life and dissipates hope for the next.
On the left, you'll find a colorful and imaginative picture of what evolutionist's call the "family tree" of life. This photo is from the University of California Museum of Paleontology's "Evolution 101" website that explains that phylogeny ("family tree") is divided into three major clades or domains: Archaea, Bacteria, and Eukaryota. According to the theory of evolution, we humans are in the Eukaryota clade which means we share the same ancestors with fish, worms and other interesting "animals".
I noticed in the movie, every time the Professors used the word "species" to prove their theory myth of evolution, Ray kept using the term "kind" rather than species. So during my interview with Ray today, I asked him if this was done purposefully or accidentally. He said, "It was absolutely purposeful. The term "kind" is used 10 times in just the first chapter of Genesis. Species is a generic term and atheists like to use it to confuse the subject. I wanted to be sure to use the biblical term "kind", and focus on the truth—that there is no observable evidence of Darwinian evolution."
"The definition of a species as a group of interbreeding individuals cannot be easily applied to organisms that reproduce only or mainly asexually...If two lineages of oak look quite different, but occasionally form hybrids with each other, should we count them as different species? There are lots of other places where the boundary of a species is blurred. It's not so surprising that these blurry places exist—after all, the idea of a species is something that we humans invented for our own convenience!"
Note, that even within the theory myth of evolution, biologist admit that the term "species" is used and defined by humans for mere convenience. Which means, when it's convenient, they (scientist) change the definition and classifications of all life, as it makes sense to them, without any observable, scientific proof.
The definition of "science" is: systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation. You cannot observe or experiment on something that is merely part of someone's imagination.
While there is evidence of microevolution, that is, the observable evidence of minor changes and variations (e.g., color and size of a species), they nonetheless remain within the same kind or species. So by definition, the theory of evolution is just that, a theory; mere conjecture and nothing more. There has never been any observable evidence that one kind of species has ever evolved into another kind of species (e.g., an ape to a man, a butterfly to a bird, etc.).
I want to clarify that Ray Comfort is not refuting the concept of microevolution in "Evolution vs. God", he is accurately investigating the validity behind the theory of macroevolution, which is basically the theory that we have the same ancestor as fish and over a long period of time (billions of years), we have evolved from fish to human beings.
Interestingly, when Ray asked university students who claimed to believe in evolution, "Do you think evolution is a belief?" Some quickly said, "No", then just as quickly, changed their minds and said, "Yes, I have strong trust on what the experts and textbooks say." Another student said, "I have faith in experts, yeah. I guess similar to how religious people have faith that God actually exists. I have faith that the experts know what they're talking about." Then Ray tells them what that's called, "blind faith". They laugh and agree.
One of the reasons why I love this movie so much is because I learned many fundamental facts necessary for any thinking human being. For instance, I learned that the coccyx and appendix are not vestigial (useless) body parts.
In an article by Duke University doctors (updated May 2010), they share their discovery of the appendix's important role in protecting the immune system within the human body. It's also been noted by neurologists that the coccyx (which means "tailbone") is a term that was invented by evolutionist, and widely accepted as a vestigial until doctors and scientist rejected the notion that this is merely a useless "left over" part from our ape days.
I thoroughly enjoyed what I learned about the Darwinian theory of evolution and that our coccyx and appendixes are not useless body parts, but very necessary to our health and our body's ability to function well.
As usual, my favorite part of the movie is how Ray compassionately, intelligently and respectfully engages people in talking about what matters most to them, and what matters to God, which ultimately, should be, what matters most to them—specifically, Jesus Christ, because without Him, there is no forgiveness of sins; therefore, no eternal life for anyone.
As a whole, I loved "Evolution vs. God" and am grateful for my brother Ray Comfort and the entire Living Waters' staff who fervently and faithfully love and serve our awesome God.
In closing, I asked Ray if he had any Scripture and/or exhortation he'd like me to share with all of you. And he did. Below is what Ray shared from his heart:
"Proverbs 19:23 is my life verse, 'The fear of the LORD leads to life,
And he who has it will abide in satisfaction;
He will not be visited with evil.' (NKJV). I'm afraid every time I step on the box to preach. Even with this movie, I was more fearful of talking to Professor Craig Stanford than I have been of most people. But I do it anyway, because there's something more important than my fears; the lives of all who don't know Christ. "I want to encourage teachers in the public school system to show this movie to their class. Even if it's just the first 20 minutes. Your students need to learn the truth. Besides, most of it is about evolution, so it shouldn't be a problem. I also want to ask everyone who has any influence to download, share the link and purchase the DVD's [when available] and give them to as many people as possible. "As Christians, we need to come with our double-edged sword (the Word of God) and battle the evil that's all around us."

About a week ago, I was contacted by the History Channel’s media group asking me to help promote “The Bible”, a new mini-series that was created and produced by Roma Downey, (Touched By An Angel) with her husband Mark Burnett (producer: The Voice, Survivor, Shark Tank, Celebrity Apprentice).
After prayerfully reviewing the materials and consulting with my wise husband, I stated that I was unable to participate in promoting this endeavor due to its highly unbiblical content, as well as their portrayal of championing the virility of man while palliating the glory, righteousness and holiness of God.
God our Father revealed Himself through His holy word (the real Bible) to proclaim:
God's righteousness;
Man's depravity;
Humanity's desperate need for a Savior—the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
From the words of the creators and producers of not-"The Bible" mini-series, their purpose is to portray God:
As an angry God who punishes the "bad" people and curses the "good" people who disobey;
As a really cool deity who still blesses all the "good" people no matter what they do;
Whose ultimate desire is to "change the world", make people nicer and happier through social reform and show all humanity the "good" we all have within ourselves.
Show's website: "The Bible - an epic 10-part miniseries retells stories from the Scriptures for a whole new generation from Genesis through Revelation. This DVD set is sure to entertain and inspire the whole...offering new insight into famous scenes and iconic characters..."
Roma Downey: "We knew that we could make it heartfelt. We knew we could make it faithful. But we wanted to be sure that we could make it cool."
Mark Burnett: "Our goal is to breathe fresh, visual life into the sacred text, the Bible...There are many, many epic battles in the Bible, and telling those from the character perspective makes you care more about the outcome of the battles."
Nancy Dubuc (History Channel’s president and manager): "The faith community is going to sample it, unquestionably. Whether they stay or go remains with the TV gods. Our job has been to present this as an epic tale of adventure."
Kierston Wareing (Delilah): "My hopes for the Bible series is that it brings in a larger range of audience, especially the younger audience because I can really say this for myself, this is really different,it’s really modern, it’s for everyone. If I saw this advertised myself and I wasn't in it, I would certainly be tuning in."
Beloved saints of the Lord Jesus Christ, I share this review out of my abiding love and devotion to our heavenly Father, my great love and compassion for God's elect, and those who are still lost. Please, be careful what you teach and what you condone.
"Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea...It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble. The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves."
~Mk 9:42, Rom 14:21-22 (emphasis added)
This mini-series has unfortunately been endorsed and promoted by Jim Daly (Focus on the Family), Rick Warren, T.D. Jakes, Joel Osteen, Lisa Harper (Women of Faith), Luis Palau, Dick Rolfe (the Dove Foundation) and many other well-known Christian leaders and organizations.
Some of the project's advisers were: Joel Osteen who is a heretic, T.D. Jakes who is a modalist (which is heretical and blasphemous) and Rick Warren who is known for his faulty doctrine. Trying to obtain doctrinal accuracy from these men, is just asking for failure...of biblical proportions (pun and truth intended).
I'm not surprised by many of these advisers and endorsers, however I am disappointed by Jim Daly, Lisa Harper and Dick Rolfe's promotion of this Hollywood-ized show of the Bible.
There's so much added and so much taken away from Scripture (and I don't mean Bible stories, I mean the truth is omitted and replaced with lies) that this mini-series plays more like a religious soap opera with overly emotional characters than an accurate depiction of God's word, and His call for His people to be holy, as He is holy.
"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name." ~Matthew 6:9
Biblical inaccuracies that matter (Jer 9:23-24):
Opening:Noah quotes Genesis while he's on the ark with his family (though only Moses knew this and was commissioned by God to write the Pentateuch). During this nice little family story time, Noah tells his family that God caused the flood because Cain killed Abel and not because God saw that the people of Noah's time were consumed with evil (Gen 6:5-8).
Noah's monologue continues with Noah saying, "God has seen too much evil in people's hearts...wrong choices, wrong decisions", though it is written in God's word that there is nothing but evil in all our hearts; we are dead in our trespasses, born sinners and enslaved to the sinful passions of our flesh until we are born again as new creations in Christ Jesus the Lord (Rom 3:10-12, 2 Cor 5:17, Eph 4:20-24) .
First attack on the Gospel:
Right after Noah's monologue, the voice-over narrator states, "After the flood waters engulfed the world, there is a new beginning for Noah's descendants, and a chance [for them] to restore the relationship between God and humanity." This statement completely negates the Gospel of Jesus Christ while it denies the depravity of man, the holiness of God, and humanity's desperate need for a Savior.
God visits Abraham: Never does Abraham demonstrate reverent fear of the Lord, rather he speaks to Lord as if He were a man. While this is happening, the two angels sent into the city are attacked by the people of the city and come to Lot's door, breathless and begging for Lot's help. The angels who earlier feared the people, now reveal they are wearing armor under their cloaks and have swords which is how they fight and kill their way out of the city. God destroys the city as the angels run away bleeding and injured; barely escaping with Lot and his family (Gen 19:1-22), as opposed to the accurate biblical telling of the angels appropriating their God-given, supernatural power from the moment they entered the city to the way they left.
Sacrifice of Isaac:Though Scripture depicts Abraham as one who quickly and faithfully obeys God's call to sacrifice Isaac (Gen 22:1-3), in this mini-series we find Abraham arguing and irreverently talking back to God, "What? No! Haven't I shown you enough faith?"
After Abraham lifts his knife to strike the boy, biblically, the angel of the Lord tells Abraham not to touch Isaac. Abraham then looks up and sees a ram with its horns caught in a thicket which he understands to be God's substitutionary sacrifice; foreshadowing Christ's sacrifice for the sins of the world. But in the mini-series, Abraham asks Isaac for his forgiveness, the angel only calls Abraham's name and there is a cute little lamb just standing there, not caught in anything (Gen 9-13). The ram with it's horn caught in a thicket is a very important thing to change. The ram and it's horns symbolize strength while the thicket represents the crown of thorns our Savior wears as He's being mocked by Pilate's men.
In Scripture, Abraham has no idea exactly where he is going (Gen 22:1-4) only that God will lead him to a mountain in the region of Moriah. But in the mini-series Sarah knows exactly where they are, and meets them at the foot of the mountain, hoping to stop Abraham. She cries out to Isaac who shows resentment towards Abraham for almost sacrificing him. Isaac runs and embraces his mother and Sarah glares at Abraham. The scene ends with Abraham rejected and standing alone.
Moses:God never tells Moses that he's standing on holy ground so Moses keeps his sandals on (another clear omission of God's holiness [Exodus 3:5]). Moses speaks to Pharaoh himself (rather than Aaron speaking to Pharaoh) and Moses doesn't argue with God when He first calls him to this task (Exodus 3:10-4:17), instead, Moses is full of courage throughout the mini-series.
Second attack on the Gospel: After the crossing of the Red Sea (which in Downey and Burnett depicts as happening on wet and muddy land rather than the miracle of dry land) Moses confidently declares, "We're going to fulfill Abraham's covenant with God." What? This was a one-way covenant that God initiated while Abram (Gen 15:12-21) was asleep. The hope in this covenant is that God promises to this great and awesome thing for Abram and his descendants without any assistance or participation from Abram or any man. God established the covenant and He alone will, and canfulfill it, just as He promised.
The correlation between this covenant and the new covenant that Christ establishes (through His shed blood) is once again, an unbreakable covenant because it's initiated and fulfilled only by God Himself: for those He calls, He grants them the gift of repentance that leads to salvation found only in His Son (John 6:44, Rom 8:29-30, 2 Cor 7:10).
John the Baptist: In Scripture, John the Baptist is the one who is commissioned by God the Father to "Prepare the way of the Lord; make his paths straight." (Matt 3:1-3). But in the mini-series, when John sees Jesus as he's baptizing people, rather than proclaim who Christ is and how unworthy he is to even untie Jesus' sandals (Luke 3:16), John merely says, "Lord, you need to baptize me." To which Jesus replies, "John, what you are doing is right." Again, the mini-series neglects to reveal Christ's deity, His greatness and that His desire is to fulfill all righteousness (Matt 3:13-15).
Third attack on the Gospel: Prior to being beheaded John exclaims “He [Jesus] will bring a new age of righteousness and justice. His [Jesus’] power will draw all men to a new world.” This entire statement is very new-age and doctrinally unsound. Jesus is not interested in social reform. He's interested in reconciling utterly sinful human beings to a holy, righteous and good God through: His substitutionary death for sinful man, His resurrection of new life for those who've repented and trusted in Him, and a glorious eternal life spent in the presence of the Almighty once we've completed our sojourn here on earth.
Jesus did not come to earth, die, be resurrected and ascended to the right hand of the Father so we could have a "better life" here on earth.
Jesus' calling of Peter: Jesus sees Peter rolling up his nets and asks him if he needs any help. Peter is tired and angry and rudely declines Jesus' offer. So Jesus just smiles understandably and starts walking in the water toward Peter's boat. When Jesus gets waist deep, he asks for Peter's help into the boat. Peter reluctantly helps Jesus. Jesus suggests they go fishing, Peter angrily says "No". Jesus then smiles and pleads, “Peter, just give me an hour, and I will give you a whole new life.” To which Peter retorts, “Who says I want one?” No majesty, no power and no reverence for Christ is depicted here; only humanity's vivacious spirit and the God of the universe trying to convince people to follow Him.
Fourth attack on the Gospel: While Jesus and Peter are fishing, Jesus tells Peter He needs Peter to help Him "change the world." Downey, Burnett and their theological advisers continue to portray the Almighty much like the false pagan gods who something from their subjects in order to do anything. Nowhere in Scripture does God state that He is trying to change the world or needs our assistance with anything; rather our Lord clearly states, without Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5). Also in the Scriptures, our LORD declares He is going to do something magnificent—He's going to give us new hearts and new minds and conform us into the image of His Son, Christ the Lord. God certainly has no interest in merely making this world a nicer place to live.
Last Supper and Fifth attack on the Gospel:While the actor who portrays Jesus says the bread is the body of Christ and the wine is Jesus' blood, he never says the most important thing: it is for the forgiveness of sins (Matt 26:28). Though all of Scripture points to the Gospel, in this mini-series, there is no Gospel message; only a message of man's power to have enough "faith" to see himself through and lead others to a "better place".
Second Coming: They have the actor who portrays Jesus to say that he's coming again, with a smile and in a comforting, reassuring tone; as if Christ's Second Coming will be a happy day for all...which it won't be. As it is written, our Lord's awesome Second Coming will be a time of great rejoicing and relief for believers, and a dread beyond words for unbelievers (2 Thess 1:5-9, Revelations 3:10-11, 22:12).
Throughout the entire series, God's holiness and righteousness is either completely omitted or diminished. The Almighty is portrayed as the Roman Catholic's works-based God who curses people who disobey and blesses those who obey, mixed with the heretical false god of Joel Osteen who wants to give you a big hug and make you happy no matter what you've done. Putting both sects of heretical teachings together produces man-centered, sappy deity who desperately wants people to know about His love (as defined by the world) and will punish all the "bad" people, while allowing all the "good" people (by their own merits) to continuously receive blessings regardless of any ungodly behavior.
This is most certainly not the true nature of the Almighty God as He reveals Himself through His word. The one true God reveals Himself as: holy, awesome, righteous and just, full of compassion and mercy, who, in spite of our great sins, provides salvation to us through the condescension, perfect life, death and resurrection of His one and only Son, Christ the Lord.
There are many more incredulous liberties Downey and her husband took on their re-writing of the Bible stories, but it's unwise to belabor the point. What I've shared should suffice and convince any God-fearing, Christ-loving, Bible-believing Christian to stay away, warn others and respectfully share this truth with the Christian leaders and organizations that are endorsing this project.
Q. "Even though there's a lot of error in this movie, still, don't you think it's a great way to show people who God really is, I mean, can't God use anything to save someone?
A. No, I don't think this movie is a great way to reveal the truth about God since it's filled with lies about God. And yes, I realize God can use anything to save someone, but He only chose to use the message of the true Gospel to save all men (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). Nowhere in Scripture does God command or allow His children to use the work of Satan to proclaim His truth. And God is clear, anyone who denies Him and defiles His holy character or word, works for the devil, not for God.
Since the beginning of time, the devil has attempted to minimize and blaspheme God's holy character by lulling us to disregard His holiness, justice and righteousness. God has never called His children of light to partner with the works of darkness (2 Cor 6:15-16). As God's children, we are commanded to pursue holiness, rather than try to find a way to compromise the glory of Christ in order to "reach more people".
Q. "Sunny, don't you think you're taking this a bit too seriously? I mean, when's the last time you saw "the Bible" trending at #1 in social media? Don't you think this is great!?"
A. Jesus said, "You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God...Now when He [Jesus] was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in His name when they saw the signs that He was doing. But Jesus on His part did not entrust Himself to them, because He knew all people and needed no one to bear witness about man, for He Himself knew what was in man...The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? 'I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.' " ~Luke 16:15, John 2:23-25, Jer 17:9-10
Q. "Sunny, this is Roma Downey and her husband's movie. Don't you think they have the right to leave out or add into the film whatever they want?"
A. While I agree that this mini-series belongs to Roma Downey and her husband, the story they're telling doesn't. The Bible and everything in it belongs to God and no one else. God clearly states in His word, that He has given no one "creative liberties" with His word or His immutable character (Is 46:5-11, James 1:16-18). Q. "I know they left things out in the mini-series Sunny, but did you really expect them to fit the entire Bible into 10 hours?"
A. No, I didn't expect them to include every detail of God's word in that short time span. However, when I said they left much out and added much in, I didn't mean biblical content, I meant biblical truths were left out and lies were added in. Downey and Burnett tried to re-write the word of God to fit their idea and the public's idea of who God should be; someone more approachable, easy to get along with, someone who makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. And this depiction of God is false. It is the world's idol of who they want their god to be. Their god who has no power, no authority and no salvation. Q. "Don't you think it's useful for all Christians to have this great springboard to talk to people who normally wouldn't be interested in God or the Bible (i.e., people at work, school, etc.)?"
A. Let me ask you a question. Do you believe Romans 1:16-17, that the Gospel of Christ alone has the power to save and reveal the righteousness of God? If you do, why would you need anything else to talk to people about the Lord? If you're sincerely desiring to learn ways to reach more people for Christ, go to www.livingwaters.com to find out how you can biblically and effectively share the Gospel in every area of your life. Trust me, God's word was sufficient for Christ and all His faithful witnesses of old and I assure you, God's word is still sufficient to do the job today. God doesn't need the spectacle of Hollywood to make Himself more presentable to the world.
Q. "Wait, why did you make a distinction between the Roman Catholic god and your God? Aren't they the same? Aren't Catholic's also Christians?
A. That's a very good question. I make that distinction because God makes the distinction between who He is and who others like to say He is. Roman Catholic teaching is not in accord with sound doctrine and there are many false teachings within the Catholic church about who Christ is and how a person can be saved. But rather than go into all that here, I'd like to refer you to a friend of mine, Mike Gendron with Proclaiming the Gospel. Mike is a former Catholic who was once in training to be a priest. He is now a born again believer in Christ and has a great heart, full of compassion for those still within the Catholic church.
Q. "Okay, I agree with everything you just mentioned, but don't you think the more mature Christian could use this as a teaching tool so we're better equipped to defend our faith and help those weak in faith to distinguish between the errors and truth?"
A. In law enforcement, when they're training officers to quickly discern counterfeit money, do you know what they do? They tell them to study the authentic bill so well, that it'll be easy to spot a counterfeit. Just the same, God commands His children, children of the light, children of truth, to be students of His word so that we are not tossed by the waves of false teaching and false doctrine (Matt 7:15-20, 16:12, Eph 4:11-14).
Q. "Well, don't you think it's still a 'good' movie? I thought it was well made and quite entertaining."
A. Remember what Jesus said, only God is good (Mk 10:18); therefore if whatever anyone does is not of God, then it of no good. Besides, God never created us, nor revealed Himself to us, for our entertainment, He did it to make us a holy people—set apart for Him.
"Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, 'You shall be holy, for I am holy.' And if you call on Him as Father who judges impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot."
~1 Peter 1:13-19
Not-"The Bible" mini-series depicts mankind without sin, therefore no need to repent, leaving no reason for God to show grace or mercy, and nothing to forgive—ultimately leaving all mankind destitute, without any means for salvation.
This is truly a grievous film with a destructive end for anyone who thinks they will "find God" through the heretical and blasphemous message of this mini-series.
Read (below) other biblical reviews that honor God rather than entertain the masses and please help me spread God's truth and warn the other saints of these wolves in sheep's clothing. Then faithfully share the true Gospel to a dying and depraved world (2 Tim 2:15, Heb 4:11-13).
